Earrings for Men
Earrings are wonderful fashion accessories. The ancient world has seen Egyptians, Indians, and Persians accessorizing themselves with earrings. Evidences of this could be seen in early paintings and image carvings. They were also even used as symbols in religion and in the society. It is then no wonder why earrings
are very popular nowadays among men and women.
Popularization of Earrings
One might think that earrings are only for women. It is true that women wear earrings to add a glamorous touch to their overall look. Western European women of the 1920’s were among the people who have popularized this fashion item. For the men, ear piercing was introduced only in the mid 1900’s.
Based on history, men had also been wearing earrings for a long time. Dates can stretch to as far as the era of primitive tribes of India. But during the hippie period, a man with an ear piercing was conceived to be gay. But times are different now because a man can now have earrings without being labeled as a homosexual.
During the earlier times, ears were pierced using a pin that was poked through the ears. Just imagine the pain of that. But thanks to modernization, ear piercing is easier and faster, not to mention less bloody, with ear guns. The ear gun puts a stud in your ear in a matter of split seconds. So if you decide to have your ears pierced, it can get done in no time at all.
Male earrings were first made popular by athletes, musicians, and performers who wore them during their shows in the 1980’s. Spectators have then followed by wearing earrings themselves too. But nowadays, even the ordinary guy around the block can be seen wearing a stud to add a final touch to his look. Even you can now sport an earring or two for our own fashion style.
Types of Earrings
As you may have noticed, the two popular types of earrings for men are hoop earrings and stud earrings. Hoop earrings are like rings attached to the ear. They are usually circular, which are mostly made from metal tubing that has a thin wire that acts as the lock. This thin wire completes the circular shape of the metal tubing. There are some hoop earrings though which do not complete the circle and have locks at the back instead, just like stud earrings.
Stud earrings are, well, studs that look as if they are just glued to the ear where in fact, the other end of the stud is actually pierced through the ear. Stud earrings are made of different materials, although the classiest ones are made of diamonds. Diamond stud earrings have increasingly become popular and are now acceptable in both casual and formal gatherings.
When you have finally thought about having your ears pierced, it would be time to select what type of earring you would like to have, although starters go with stud earrings first. Just make sure that your earrings
will match the occasion and your outfit, and that you feel very comfortable with them. Flaunt those earrings
right away, with a little measure of caution, of course.
